B.Sc. in Cardiac Pulmonary Perfusion Care Technology is a
undergraduate course in paramedical program. Perfusion, as the
science of movement of fluids in the body, facilitates those
functions necessary for the support, treatment, measurement, or
supplementation of the cardiopulmonary and circulatory systems.
The course essentially involves an advanced study of the
heart’s physiology, pathology, and associated equipment used to
support, or assume the function of the heart or lungs during
Perfusion technologists prepares and operate the heart-lung
machine, and other sophisticated equipment as directed by
healthcare physicians. Such perfusionists utilize technology such
as heart/ lung machines, ventricular assistance devices, artificial
hearts, as well as pharmacological interventions to maintain the
patient’s cardiac functions during the period of circulatory support.
